SC Governor Mark Sanford’s Affair

SC Governor Mark Sanford’s infidelity rocks South Carolinas today. Stunned by his emotional admission the consequences will unfold. Right now the chase to identify the paramour in Argentina begins.

What can we learn from his actions?

1. The affair started out as an internet relationship.
2. He began deceiving
3. He lied about his whereabouts.
4. He failed to recognize the consequential damage until it was too late.
5. He appeared remorseful but his future behavior will determine if he is genuine.
6. Time will help heal his family but scars will remain for life.
7. The damage to his reputation is irreversible.
8. He confessed publically but was he motivated by pressure from others? If not, this is good sign for his healing process.
9. Infidelity is the greatest destroyer of a politician’s reputation. This will be especially true of a conservative politician.
10. In this case, Governor Mark Sanford confession changes the playing field for his political career.

In every case of infidelity, deceit is necessary. Public leaders must be more responsible since they are servants. History proves adultery ends a leaders ability to lead. Just like an employee stealing from their company, adultery leaves many feeling shocked, disappointed and angry. It is an individual choice to forgive him, let's hope many do.

Now the fall-out!

What comes with this type of political scandal is a price tag - especially for those who supported his ideology and mission. This will certainly have an impact on the state’s conservative party. If the governor had any aspirations to run for the presidency, his opponents will bring his affair up as a stumbling block.

Again, infidelity creates a web that few escape.

It’s a sad state of affair!
